A Kitchen Remodeler That Starts With the Cabinets

Studioantwork remodels kitchens across Newport Beach. We start every project with the cabinets, because the cabinets decide almost everything else in the room. The counters are templated to them, the plumbing and electrical are roughed in to their drawings, the backsplash tile stops at their edges, and the lighting is laid out around their doors. Get the cabinet plan right and the rest of the job follows it. Get it wrong and every trade after it works around the mistake.

That is also where the largest single decision in most kitchen budgets sits. A homeowner can spend twice as much on a full custom kitchen as on a well specified semi-custom one, and in a lot of rooms the extra money disappears into places nobody will ever look. In other rooms it is the difference between a kitchen that fits and one that is held together with filler strips and trim. Our job on the first visit is to tell you honestly which kind of room you have.

How We Work

• We open the existing cabinets. Before quoting anything, we look at the boxes you already have. Solid plywood face frame cabinets in the right layout are often worth refacing rather than replacing.
• We compare on paper. When more than one approach is reasonable, you get refacing, semi-custom and custom priced next to each other for the same room, with the differences written out.
• We plan for the coast. Stainless or solid brass hardware, plywood sink bases and finishes that tolerate humidity are part of the specification near the water, not an afterthought.
• We schedule around the neighborhood. Tight streets on the Balboa Peninsula and Balboa Island, HOA work hours in the gated communities and permit inspections through the City of Newport Beach are built into the timeline from the start.

What We Will Not Do

We will not sell you a full gut when new doors, better lighting and a hood that vents outside would give you the kitchen you want. We will not quote a custom island without showing you what the semi-custom version would cost. And we will not start demolition until the cabinets have a confirmed ship date.
